Complete Works of Flavius Josephus

History of the Jews at Jesus time  by
Flavius Josephus

Flavius Josephus was born to a priest and a member of the royal family. He led a life full of adventure, from fighting against the Romans in the first Jewish roman war to becoming a Roman citizen. Josephus’ recording of Jewish history and accounting for the Jewish revolt against the Romans is valuable. This book is a genuine translation of the original Greek version, proving a different perspective from a Jewish point of view and invaluable insight into the early stages of Christianity. Josephus’ work is considered a chief source on the history of Palestine after the bible as he provides an extra-biblical account of significant figures, including possibly Jesus of Nazareth. Josephus’s status as a historian was restored in the mid-twentieth century, giving him another standing than a Jewish traitor. This restoration of status makes his work literary important for understanding the impact of the late temple of Judaism
