Good for G.M. is good for USA – 40 days in bankruptcy?

July 12, 2009 By Richard A. Volunteer

It has been said “What is good for General Motors is good for America” – Chairman and CEO, Charlie Wilson, 1955. Today this could be, what is true for General Motors is true for America.

One bankruptcy expert called GM’s 40-day case the fastest ever for a company of its size. Spurred on by the Obama administration’s support, the bankruptcy process was two day’s faster than crosstown rival Chrysler Group 42-day time frame.

So what do 40 days in bankruptcy mean?

40 has always been a number of trial and rebirth. Even pregnancy is 40 weeks to birth. While some babies are ready to come out at 40 weeks pregnant, others prefer to stay in until 42 weeks pregnant. So it was for so many desert experiences that shaped history – Moses — Noah – Israel – and other desperate situations.

So does the 40 days stand alone, and the lesson is GM’s alone or she but a foretaste of the way ahead for the country she represents? Does she like the Phoenix arise reborn or does she merely point the road for all the arrogant capitalism, she stood for.

The two bankrupt autos are but the two witnesses to the road ahead for this country. Is praying for “God’s Bailout” going to rescue “Motor City.”

Once the wealthiest city in America, known as the “arsenal of democracy,” Detroit was the fourth largest city in the U.S. in the 1960’s with a population of two million…….

The following are 25 facts about the fall of Detroit…

  • The following are 25 facts about the fall of Detroit that will leave you shaking your head…
  • At this point, the city of Detroit owes money to more than 100,000 creditors.
  • Detroit is facing $20 billion in debt and unfunded liabilities. That breaks down to more than $25,000 per resident.
  • Back in 1960, the city of Detroit actually had the highest per-capita income in the entire nation.
  • In 1950, there were about 296,000 manufacturing jobs in Detroit. Today, there are less than 27,000.
  • Between December 2000 and December 2010, 48 percent of the manufacturing jobs in the state of Michigan were lost.
  • There are lots of houses available for sale in Detroit right now for $500 or less.
  • At this point, there are approximately 78,000 abandoned homes in the city.
  • About one-third of Detroit’s 140 square miles is either vacant or derelict.
  • An astounding 47 percent of the residents of the city of Detroit are functionally illiterate.
  • Less than half of the residents of Detroit over the age of 16 are working at this point.
  • If you can believe it, 60 percent of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.
  • Detroit was once the fourth-largest city in the United States, but over the past 60 years the population of Detroit has fallen by 63 percent.
  • The city of Detroit is now very heavily dependent on the tax revenue it pulls in from the casinos in the city. Right now, Detroit is bringing in about 11 million dollars a month in tax revenue from the casinos.
  • There are 70 “Superfund” hazardous waste sites in Detroit.
  • 40 percent of the street lights do not work.
  • Only about a third of the ambulances are running.
  • Some ambulances in the city of Detroit have been used for so long that they have more than 250,000 miles on them.
  • Two-thirds of the parks in the city of Detroit have been permanently closed down since 2008.
  • The size of the police force in Detroit has been cut by about 40 percent over the past decade.
  • When you call the police in Detroit, it takes them an average of 58 minutes to respond.
  • Due to budget cutbacks, most police stations in Detroit are now closed to the public for 16 hours a day.
  • The violent crime rate in Detroit is five times higher than the national average.
  • The murder rate in Detroit is 11 times higher than it is in New York City.
  • Today, police solve less than 10 percent of the crimes that are committed in Detroit.
  • Crime has gotten so bad in Detroit that even the police are telling people to “enter Detroit at your own risk“.
  • It is easy to point fingers and mock Detroit, but the truth is that the rest of America is going down the exact same path that Detroit has gone down.
  • Detroit just got there first. All over this country, there are hundreds of state and local governments that are also on the verge of financial ruin…

God is not mocked — O.J. Simpson

October 4, 2008 By Richard A. Volunteer

He was convicted of an armed robbery that happened on Sept. 13 and was found guilty on the 13th anniversary of his Los Angeles murder acquittal. The Las Vegas jury deliberated for 13 hours after a 13-day trial.

12 Jurors deliberated 13 hours before reaching a verdict, of guilty on all 12 counts, which comes exactly 13 years to the day after the ex-football star OJ Simpson was acquitted in the killings of his ex-wife and her friend.

Intifada every 7 years

November 30, 2007 By Richard A. Volunteer

It is 60 years today – God established Israel with a UN vote of 33-13 with 10 abstentions (10=Minion)

When the General Assembly voted to partition the land on Nov. 29, 1947, it was clear it would set off a war between Jews and Arabs. After losing 6, 000,0000 Jews in the 6 years of World War 2 its 600,000 Jewish inhabitants huddled around their radios to listen to the live broadcast from the United Nations.

Israel has destroyed 606 BC – Jerusalem/Temple was destroyed 19 years later 587 BC.
Israel established 1947 AD – Jerusalem/Temple Restored 19 years later in 1967 – 6-day war.

9th Sept 1993 Oslo Accord came out of talks regarding Palestine (PLO) and a divided Israel.
7 years later that fell apart – Ariel Sharon’s notorious visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City on 28 September 2000 Day Before Rosh Hashanah 2000 – was the opening act of the Al Aqsa Intifada and all peace agreements and progress ended for 7 years.

7 years later the Intifada is over and the talks proceeded in Annapolis.

Its 40 years since the taking of Jerusalem/Temple Mount in 1967 today and TODAY is exactly 60 years since the establishment of the State on Nov 29th 1947 – Israel – Today they sign an agreement (shaking hands for the first time) in Annapolis to restart talks in two weeks to complete partition and perhaps allow East Jerusalem to go to the Palestinians.

Sept 1993 add 7

Sept 2000 add 7

November 2007 are the dates Israel gives away Gods Land to her enemies.

A statement, Various undersigned 29 November 2007 and The Electronic Intifada, 27 November 2007 The November 2007 London Conference. For decades, efforts to bring about a two-state solution in historic Palestine have failed to provide justice and peace for the Palestinian and Israeli Jewish peoples, or to offer a genuine process leading towards them.

On Tuesday, 27 November, large crowds of Palestinians in Gaza poured out of their homes — as did their brothers and sisters in the West Bank — to protest what they call the “renunciation of Palestinians’ legitimate rights.”

Critics of the conference held large demonstrations and rallies in the coastal strip, voicing their strongly worded objections to the Annapolis gathering. “No recognition of Israel! No recognition of Israel!” thousands of Gaza residents chanted in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) building in Gaza City. A young woman taking part in a large women’s rally cried angrily, “We don’t want more alleged peace conferences, which bring us more suffering. We prefer poverty to accepting shameful peace.”

Jerusalem Day 2007

May 15, 2007 By Richard A. Volunteer

Tomorrow is JERUSALEM DAY – the Israeli government proclaimed the holiday of “Jerusalem Day” for the 28th of Iyar, corresponding to the date that the Israeli military liberated those parts of Jerusalem which had previously been in Arab possession.

In 1967 – 19 years after the establishment of the State in 1948 – The Israelis captured Jerusalem in 1967. For the first time in 2520 years, she was independent.

That follows the destruction of the Jewish state 2520 years ago by the Babylonians in 606 BC followed by the destruction of Jerusalem and Solomon’s Temple on 9th of AV 587 BC exactly 19 years later. Jerusalem was never to be under Jewish rule until 1967.

“This will be a sign to the house of Israel. Lie also on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it. According to the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity. For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year” (Ezekiel 4:3-6).

Each day represents one biblical year. 430 years (390 years plus another 40 years). “And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins” (Leviticus 26:18; see also Leviticus 26:21, 23-24,27-28). 430 years – first 70 years = 360 years x 7 = 2,520 biblical years x 360 day = 907,200 days

If we work backward from May 14, 1948 and using this information the 907,200 days (2,520 years) prophecy, we arrive at 606 BC

Israel lost its independence in 606 B.C. but Jerusalem was left intact with the Second temple. The “desolations of Jerusalem” began with the annihilation of the city of Jerusalem and the Solomon’s Temple in 587 B.C. According to Jeremiah, it was punishment for not yielding to the “Servitude of the Nation” which began in 606 B.C., with the first siege of Nebuchadnezzar – 19 years prior.

On the morning of Shavuot, June 15, 1967 — just six days after the liberation of the Old City of Jerusalem in the Six Day War — the Old City was officially opened to the Israeli public.

In total, 200,000 visited the Western Wall that day. It was the first pilgrimage, en masse, of Jews to Jewish-controlled Jerusalem on a Jewish festival in 2,000 years since the pilgrimages for the festivals in Temple times Some wept, but most faces were wreathed in smiles. For 13 continuous hours, a colorful variety of all peoples trudged along in perfect order, stepping patiently when told to do so at each of six successive barriers set up by the police to regulate the flow

Enjoy the Day and ponder the fact that the generation that saw her restored would also see the end of the age.

I ponder the number 40 more so for it is a generation. God’s timepiece in the end times is Israel and Jerusalem the “cup of trembling” handed the nations.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it…

Zechariah 12:2-3

Letter to the editor

April 27, 2007 By Richard A. Volunteer

Dear Sir /Madam

I am now a US citizen who came here from Africa. In various African churches, we sang about America the beautiful and “amber waves of grain” from donated American hymnals.

Relief agencies would fly in Mielie Meel (Corn Flour) and other staples while bare foot Africans stood in line waiting. Women carrying babies in a sling, carried 10kg bags of corn back to the village, to be pounded to flour with mortar to make flatcakes on hot stones.

In Seattle, I now pay for emission testing.

Meanwhile back home in many countries, my family tells me hunger is rampant and the relief flights don’t come as often as food aid buys less these days. I discovered Iowa used to export 50% of their corn harvest but is soon to be importing corn for ethanol Bio-fuel.

I am not against Bio-fuel. Brazil has 40% of their all fuel made from sugar cane, but it takes 450 pounds of corn to fill an SUV tank – in Africa that is food for 1 whole year. Please reconsider making BioFuel from wood or from sugar cane like Brazil. Why sing about “amber waves” of industrial production when people starve?.

Why target the poor mans harvest and starve him for our Bio-fuel. I can not help but think every time I fill my car – How many people will not eat so I can drive? Even here poor Mexicans spend money on corn tortillas and rioted last year.

I will pay more for gas – but don’t make me guilty of murder and taking the food from the poor. Leave the food alone and use something else, like sugar or wood for Bio-fuel.

Purim – a full moon and 14 days to elections.

March 15, 2006 By Richard A. Volunteer

Purim March 14th, 2006 and a full moon. The moon, like the church radiant, as she reflects the light of the Son to a dark world. Pretty words and wishful thinking….

Israel weeks away from elections and Hamas refusing to recognize their right to exist. Meanwhile, Iran accelerates uranium enrichment and the UN is divided over a unified response. Purim again 2500 years later, only the weapons are suicide bombers and atomic weapons. The calls still go out to “wipe Israel off the map!”

Where is the Esther – the church that can intercede and has the ear of the King? Where is the heart of the bride in times of such danger to our kin? She is rich and increased with goods and she has need of nothing. In the shelter of the king’s court and in the “house of the Lord” she will watch their destruction.

This Bride, this Body of Christ – who was to go into all the world and carry good news…. Commanded to go First to the Jew and then to the Gentile.
  • Sure the church carried a cross to the Jew. She carried the red cross painted on the steel shields of the crusaders whose sport was “How many Jewish babies fit on a pike?”
  • Sure the church carried a cross…..the priests waved the cross as the torture and fires of the inquisition burned the sons and daughters, of God’s personal friend, Abraham.

We’ve all read in the Bible that the wicked have no rest. But did you know that the Bible says God has no rest either?

Look at Isa. 62:6, 7:”I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.”

Isaiah says we should give God no rest.

First, Isaiah says God sets watchmen in Jerusalem. Verse 6 is written as Hebrew Poetry. The first and second parts of the verse say the same thing—using different words. But the second part adds more information.

In the first part, Isaiah says God sets up watchmen and they should never be silent. In the second part, the prophet says, “You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,”

The word “watchmen” in the first part stands parallel with the word “you” of the second part. So you are the watchmen, who should call on the Lord.

Ezekiel also describes the work of watchmen. In Ezek. 33:2-9, the prophet explains the watchmen’s message. If he gives the message, he delivers his own soul from punishment.
The scriptures laid on us…our duty is clear. Is our heart with Gods people and with His work? Otherwise,  we stand guilty of their blood.

Both Ezekiel’s and Isiah’s watchmen are warned to “never be silent.” It is their duty of prayer and their warning that saves them. Will our warning and our intercession save them?

But we play tourist in Israel and buy pretty little shofars to play with…..The God of Abraham promised to save Israel. He also vowed to hold the church – The “watchmen” accountable for their blood, because as tourists we bought pretty shofars, instead of blowing them.

Jerusalem – A cup of Trembling?

January 18, 2006 By Richard A. Volunteer

How does a little country so dominate the news? Barely 7 million citizens. The leaders of Russia and France and Germany and England would not get the coverage Sharon got. Peace is paused as we await a man as forceful and credible to carry out the Middle East Roadmap.

Who protects Israel when the U.N. has a day of Solidarity, for the Palestinians with a map that omits Israel. Who sides with Israel when Iran wants nukes to “wipe them off the map!”

What do these major record-setting events have in common?

Nine of the ten costliest insurance events in U.S. history
Six of the seven costliest hurricanes in U.S. history
Three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history
Nine of the top ten natural disasters in U.S. history ranked by FEMA relief costs
The two largest terrorism events in U.S. history

All of these major catastrophes transpired on the very same day or within 24-hours of U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to trade her land for promises of “peace and security.” We can correlate the USA sponsoring major “land for peace” meetings, making major public statements pertaining to Israel’s covenant land and/or calling for a Palestinian state, to these disastrous events. Hurricane Katrina got her name the day after the 9th of AV when Israelis were evicted from Gaza. Thousands homeless there – Hundreds of Thousands homeless here.

Are each one of these major record-setting events just a coincidence, or awe-inspiring signs that God is actively involved in the affairs of Israel?

In this book, Bill Koenig provides undeniable facts and conclusive evidence showing that indeed the leaders of the United States and the world are on a collision course with God over Israel’s covenant land.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” -Zechariah 12:9

Gaza is forsaken

August 28, 2005 By Richard A. Volunteer

Zep 2:4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

August 14th 2005 – 9th of AV However, in recent days the Israeli government changed its position, and there is now a real possibility that the disengagement will be delayed to August 15, 2005 (the period between the 17th of Tamuz – July 24 – and the 9th of Av – August 14 – is a religiously sensitive time, hence the government’s desire to avoid its coinciding with the pullout.

So on  Sunday August 14th 2005 (9th of AV) the Jews in the Gaza Strip did  mourn the 9th of Av with even greater appreciation; it was their last full day in their homes. As they fast history repeats itself.

In 587 B.C., Solomon’s Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians on the 9th of AV

In A.D. 70, the 2nd Temple was destroyed by the Romans on the 9th of AV

Emperor Hadrian flattened and plowed Jerusalem on Av 9 (fulfilling Micah 3:12) one year after the last Jewish stronghold in the Bar Kokhba revolt fell to the Romans on Av 9.

Edicts were signed to kick Jews out of England and Spain, in 1290 and 1492 respectively, all on the 9th of Av.

In 2005, however,  it is the Israeli government itself,  that is forcing Jews from their homes on the 9th of AV in failed land for peace deal.

Katrina got her name over the Bahamas – as the evacuations began the week of August 15th. Exactly one week after Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon completed the forcible eviction of Jewish settlers on the 22nd of August from the Gaza Strip hurricane Katrina struck the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with a destructive and catastrophic force on August 29th.

Eighty percent (80%)  of the entire city of New Orleans was left under water. Six – Hundred thousand were left homeless. Many weather experts called this the worse hurricane and natural disaster that has ever hit the the country. President Bush supported Sharon’s evacuation from Gaza. In April 2005 Bush and Sharon met in Crawford, Texas where Bush praised Sharon for his “strong visionary leadership” in initiating the Gaza withdrawal, known as the disengagement plan. “I strongly support his courageous initiative to disengage from Gaza and part of the West Bank,” he said, referring to the withdrawal of more than 8,000 Jewish settlers from Gaza and four isolated West Bank settlements. We reaped the fruits of our interference as a country.

A study shows the 8 major “Acts of God” to come on America were all co-incidental to a major agreements and political efforts in the Middle East, as we traded Gods land, for our peace,  or for cheaper oil.

Road to Emmaus

October 9, 2000 By Richard A. Volunteer

We find our destiny
On the road we take away
Far from Seattle
To where Inverness lay

Left behind are all our losses
Dead dreams on empty crosses
We walk away forever?.
To that place “Love” finds us.
And shares the road beside us.
That “Stranger” with a point of view.

He does not scold our running
For He knows our petty fear,
Yet questions our confusion
Of promises, He made so clear.
He assures us – “I will return!”

Then shares our evening meal
And leaving us these few words
“Kindle Hope into Desire!”
“Fan Faith into a Flame!”
“Blazing Action, Now on Fire!”
“Teach all this and use My Name!”

So running back into my city
With a burning to proclaim
“He is alive!” ” He is alive!”
And I will never be the same!”

Yom Kippur – October 9th 2000 afternoon.
