Babylonian Talmud – Tract Sanhedrin

Jewish Oral Tradition  by
Michael Rodkinson

The first edition of Babylonian Talmud appeared in 1896, after which it went through many revisions and major editing done by the Talmud Society. This monumental work is a primary source of knowledge on Jewish theology and laws. Agreeably as a centerpiece of Jewish culture, the book is a collection of writings venturing into a kaleidoscope of subjects and expounding the Jewish way of life. The author gives a generous introduction to the tractates, containing decades of teachings and opinions of many generations dating back to the fifth century. Babylonian Talmud covers various topics such as Jewish ethics, folklore, philosophy, history and customs. The documentation in Babylonian Talmud is a widely used reference as it is a culmination of three hundred years of research and analysis. The structure of this book is careful and precise owing to the sensitive subject, sometimes hard to read yet, we cannot deny its influence.
