The Soul of Prayer

Practical Teaching on Prayer by
P.T. Forsyth

Soul of Prayer by P.T.Forsyth propagates awareness of the glory and gravity of praying when we get down on our knees. Described as a pre-cursor to Karl Barth, Forsyth had humble beginnings and honor in Classic literature. Fighting orthodoxy, pursuing liberal thoughts and seeking the right to rethink Christian ideology, he transformed from being a Christian to a believer, from a lover of love to an object of grace after his experiences as the minister in the Congregational Church in Shipley. Often credited with the recovery of his generation by presenting the real and true dimensions of the grace of God, Forsyth had the sense of responsibility and profound awareness that made him one of the better-known figures in British conformity. Till his death, Forsyth stressed the importance of prayer and repentance. The message in this book is believed to be of vital importance today for the renewal of spirituality.

A Method of Prayer

Prayer Instruction  by
Matthew Henry

Written nearly 300 years ago, Matthew Henry was a beloved commentator on the scripture who began preaching at the age of twenty-three and spent most of his life as a pastor of a church in Chester. A method of Prayer is a fruit of the efforts put in by Dr. Duncan and others who contributed through multiple editions and revisions. Matthew was a man of prayer and a diligent student of the Word. His interest in prayer grew after his recovery from a terminal illness at the age of ten resulting in his labors marked by wisdom that can only be attained a man who is habitual and dependent upon the Almighty. Considering the weak foundations of praying in the church of today, this book is an attempt to assist and inspire modern Christians towards understanding the language of praying, developed for both, groups and individuals, in private and public.

17 Reasons I Left the Tongues Movement

Charismatic Movement  by
Alfred H. Pohl

17 Reasons I left the Tongues Movement by Alfred H. Pohl is a testimony in which Alfred lists the main reasons for him leaving the Tongues Movement and it also expands to some extent, as much space has allowed him to. The book contains references to tongues-speaking, Pentecostal and Full Gospel teachings. The book outlines the mainstream points of the movement due to the necessity of it but it is worth noting here that are multiple perspectives and doctrines in Pentecostalism. Leaving the Pentecostal movement has been a life-altering decision of Alfred’s life and upon receiving many queries on why he left; Alfred argued that it is unjust to describe it in a few sentences. The idea of a book was to avoid condensing such a life event, misunderstanding and simply itemizing the reasons without backing them up scripture. This aim is to help and not add to the controversy.
