An Alarm to the Unconverted

Christian life  by
Joseph Alleine

An Alarm to the Unconverted is a pressing exposition by English Nonconformist pastor Joseph Alleine on converting sinners to the Christian faith. Known for his fiery sermons, he puts a passionate emphasis on dismantling misconceptions on conversion and how it all leads to eternal salvation. What is the definition of conversion, what does it resemble, and what difference does it make? Alleine answers these and other issues, pleading with the unconverted to accept Christ. This emotional appeal contrasts the life of a believer with the eternity that awaits those who are not in Christ and explains not just why but also how to devote your life to Him. An Alarm to the Unconverted has been credited by tens of thousands, if not millions, of Christians as having opened their eyes to their unconverted state of being. These passionate remarks have pierced the hearts of both the mundane and the great.

The Saints Pocket Book

Christian Life  by
Joseph Alleine

This book is an excellent manual by Joseph Alleine that contains his remains enumerated by wood, containing several recent references from scripture by the late Reverend David Thompson. A good portion of this little book talks about the solemn covenant made virtually between man and its maker; that is adverted and renewed by every act of devotion. This book is rich with gems of knowledge on religion in the context of covenanting with God, keeping it and deliberating well-grounded resolutions in this covenant. The author further emphasizes keeping the promises of this covenant so that he is blessed with certainty and a sense of divine faithfulness. Alleine’s strong and fixed faith is reflected in the text, like the strength in his resolution in the covenant of grace. As Lord was the rock of his heart and never failed him, he never forsakes Christ, encouraging his readers to do the same.

Comfort for Christians

Christian Life  by
A.W. Pink

Comfort for Christians investigates and states the work onto which the servant of Christ is known to be many-sided. Pink preaches the Gospel to the unsaved, feed the people with knowledge, encourages them to develop an understanding and help in taking out the obstacles in the way of a devoted life. He cries out loud, lifts his voice to address the teachings that have helped Christians in trials, doubt and hard times. Inspired by Romans and dealing with Beatitudes, this is a lovely and helpful guide for Christians to help them in facing losses and finding comfort. The book is strongly founded in scripture; it is straightforward with no apologies when declaring the truth in front of theologians and preachers alike. The book also serves as a great introduction to Arthur Pink’s work as he boldly speaks on chastisement, heaven and a kaleidoscope of important subjects in the Christian faith.

Christianity is Not Religion

Christian Life  by
James Fowler

This book negates the common perception that Christianity is defined and described as a religion in which morality and belief system in correspondence to the book is regarded as the basis of role-playing and problem-solving in Christian living. Director of Christ in You Ministries, author of many books including Man As God Intended and a notable commentator on Gospels, Galatians and Hebrews, James has taught in countries worldwide. Fowler explains that Christianity is not a book religion, and it is not about morality, role-playing or solving social problems because it is not an ideological option. Fowler addresses the need of the hour; a distinction between religion and Christianity by taking a razor-sharp blade of rational argument to reveal the contrasting dichotomy between the two, concluding that Christianity is Christ. This attempt at differentiation reveals a new dimension in spiritual understanding, allowing his readers to enjoy the reality of Jesus’s life.

What Jesus demands of the World

Christian Life  by
John Piper

John Piper curates the many demands of Jesus from the four Gospels in his book What Jesus Demands from the World. The book begins with John introducing the demands in a redemptive and historical context and then examines these demands as he makes progress. The book is written in a thoughtful and accessible manner, making it meditative for believers who want to know more about Jesus. Piper argues that the four Gospels are filled with demands from Jesus which is a way of showing what he expects from us. These are not harsh demands with a selfish origin and intent to control but rather directions for good and satisfaction. It can be said that these loving demands are a treasure of trust. This book is a perfect guide for new believers as well as mature believers to whom it serves as a reminder to refresh their faith in God’s plan.
