P.I.G.S. and Autocracy

September 24, 2011 By Richard A. Volunteer

Twelve years ago, the G20 was established in 1999, in the wake of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, to bring together major advanced and emerging economies to stabilize the global financial market. To tackle the financial and economic crisis that spread across the globe in 2008, the G20 members were called upon to further strengthen international cooperation.

History’s first sovereign default came in the 4th century BC, committed by 10 Greek municipalities. There was one creditor: the temple of Delos, Apollo’s mythical birthplace. Twenty-four centuries later, Greece is at the edge of the biggest sovereign default by a government with 353 billion euros ($483 billion) of debt — five times the size of Argentina’s $95 billion default in 2001

This crisis is affecting the government debt of (P.I.G.S) Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain and the Euro itself is threatened.

IMF chief Christine Lagarde has called for countries to “act now and act together” to keep on the path to economic recovery. “We are by no means strangers, and we are linked by a common destiny,” she said at the meeting of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington.

“And these turbulent times must bind us ever closer together.”

Christine Lagarde, the boss of the International Monetary Fund, warned the chance of escaping a downturn was increasingly narrow. She said: “There are dark clouds over Europe and there is huge uncertainty in the US. And with that we could risk a collapse in global demand. There is growth. The bad news is that it is slow growth. The bad news is there are downside risks on the horizon – and they are piling up.”

Britain’s Chancellor George Osborne has warned that the euro zone has just six weeks to save the euro currency. “I think there is now quite a clear deadline set which is the Cannes summit in six weeks’ time,” he said in Washington DC this afternoon. “The euro zone has six weeks to resolve this political crisis.”

There is no political will in Europe and especially in Germany to sacrifice and pay the bills of Greece. European leaders are convinced that they can survive and “manage” a orderly default by Greece.

Banks in France and Germany scrambled to assure investors that they could survive their exposure to sovereign debt. Nobody knows what the total derivative exposure is, nor who the counter-parties are.

Worse, the debt crisis now engulfs Italy, which suffers from a stagnant economy and a staggering debt load of $2.5 trillion. Borrowing costs have hit painful levels for Rome, which has hastened to come up with an austerity plan to satisfy investors.

Any default by Greece would be completely dwarfed by a similar fate for Italy, whose size would overwhelm attempts by other members of the Euro zone to save it.

Hitler once pointed at the lack of political will of the 30 political parties as proof that a countries economic problems could not be solved by democratic paralysis. The I.M.F. and the U.N. and the G20 are again proving him right. We must accept that the coming economic ruin will give rise to the types as in the 1930’s,  Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Tito, and Franco.

Rev 17 v 12. “The ten horns which you saw are ten governments who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the leader for a short time. Rev 17 v 13. “These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to this leader.

Arab Spring becomes Israel’s Fall.

September 10, 2011 By Richard A. Volunteer

The Egyptian revolution that toppled Mubarak also left the Sinai desert vulnerable to militants and opened the borders to Gaza.  Militants that escaped an Egyptian prison during the revolution then carried out the attacks on Israelis. Some of the attackers wore brown uniforms, similar to those used by the Egyptian Army. They attacked motorists killing civilians in the Sinai border areas.  The accidental killing of three Egyptian soldiers by Israels response, caused an Egyptian outcry.

A number of other factors have added to the state of tension between the two countries over the past few months including the detention of an alleged Israeli spy in June, and the recent conviction of agents who spied for Israel. Israel protested the Egypt’s former foreign minister sponsoring reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas in May.

Egypt’s desire to review the contract under which it exports natural gas to Israel in response to a public outcry has also chilled relations between the two sides.  That same natural gas  pipeline in North Sinai that delivers natural gas to Israel and Jordan was attacked by unidentified militants five times this year.  Mubarak is currently facing trial before a criminal court over several charges including the facilitation of exporting natural gas to Israel for below market prices.

Egypt lodged a formal protest to Israel over the death of members of its security forces, and demanded an investigation into the deaths.  An army source was quoted by the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) as saying that Egypt closed the Al-Ouja border crossing until further notice. The crossing is used for trade exchange between the two countries.

Presidential hopeful and former secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa said on Twitter: “The blood of the martyrs shed for the sake of their sacred duty will not be wasted.”

Public anti-Israel sentiment in Egypt culminated Friday in a ‘million-man protest’ in Cairo against the peace accord with Israel in the wake of the recent events on the two countries’ shared border.

Events boiled over Friday Sept 9th when a crowd  stormed the Israeli Embassy and broke down the wall around it. The Israeli Ambassador fled  the country,  while the embassy was ransacked and documents thrown from the windows.

Egyptian police and military did not interfere or stop the attack.  Later attempts to restore order left  Egyptians dead and a  state of emergency declared.

Three observations:

  • Democracy will bring an Islamic Government to Egypt,  regardless of party or politics or ideology. The religion of the nation is Islam. That is the foundation of the majority of Egyptians beliefs and values. The Qur’an, (Koran) trumps any Sinai or Camp David Peace Accord.
  • There is growing pressure in Egypt for ending the historic 1979 peace treaty with Israel, a pact never supported by ordinary Egyptians. The 1500 additional troops allowed in to the Sinai by Israel are but the beginning.
  • A military and economic alliance with Egypt is set to be signed by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The deal should be clinched when Erdogan visits Cairo next Monday – the first such visit paid by a Turkish prime minister in 15 years.  Egypt and Turkey represent 50% of the Middle East population.

Israels former friends and allies are  severing ties with Israel, only to unify with each other in opposition to Israel’s occupation,  and in sympathy to the Palestinian cause.  What started as an Arab Spring is heating up to be very hot Israeli Summer.

Toxic Bodies Unburied

March 31, 2011 By Richard A. Volunteer

Japanese officials believe that hundreds of bodies lie uncollected in the 12-mile evacuation radius around the crippled nuclear power plants, but nobody wants to talk about it. A police officer from the Fukushima prefecture said that weeks after the disaster, “we find bodies  in cars, in rivers, under debris and in streets.”

Logistical difficulties and fear of radiation have slowed efforts to collect bodies within the Fukushima Dai-ichi evacuation zone, and there are also concerns about how to deal with the corpses once they’re gathered.

Even after recovering the bodies and returning them to families, how relatives choose to say goodbye to loved ones will pose health and safety dilemmas.  Cremation could spread radioactive material, while conventional burial would contaminate the soil and leach into the ground water.

Police sources said today that bodies are still being exposed to high levels of radiation after death. Officials are reconsidering their plan to inspect the bodies after removing them from the evacuation zone. ”One option is to take decontamination vehicles there and decontaminate the bodies one by one,” a radiation-treatment expert told the news agency. Officials fear that decontamination might further damage the decomposing remains.

The Eternal God of History spoke of such a time 2000 years ago, when He described this happening in Israel in the near future. There special teams would also be assembled and trained in the removal of hazardous corpses.

Ezekiel 39:12 And the children of Israel will be seven months putting them in the earth, so as to make the land clean. 13 And all the people of the land will put them in the earth; and it will be to their honour in the day when I let my glory be seen, says the Lord. 14 And they will put on one side men to do no other work but to go through the land and put in the earth the rest of those who are still on the face of the land, to make it clean: after seven months are ended they are to make a search.

Ezekiel 39  v 15 And while they go through the land, if anyone sees a man’s bone, he is to put up a sign by the place till those who are doing the work have put it in the earth in the valley of Hamon-gog.  v 16 And there they will put all the army of Gog in the earth.  So they will make the land clean.

God described the Hazardous Materials Teams before we understood what He meant.  Japan and its complications are but a foretaste of our future.

Middle East – Global Focus.

January 31, 2011 By Richard A. Volunteer

The protests in Egypt are ongoing but the Islamists have already toppled the Tunisian regime of Ben Ali. According to  security officials Islamists were largely instigating the protests in Tunisia under the cover of a popular uprising.

Clearly emboldened by the Tunisian and Egyptian protests,  banners were wielded by protesters in Yemen.

At risk is Jordan, Yemen, Syria and the Royal family of  Saudi Arabia. These governments are vulnerable when the underlying majority choose Islāmic principles regardless of what the current government structure is.

The riots in Egypt are but an extension of the Islāmic Revolution that swept Iran in 1979.  Then another US Democrat President encouraged those demonstrations too.

This is the Islāmic road map so far and the results.

  • Iranian revolution, 1978-1979: Mass protests by a wide coalition against dictatorship. Result? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is now president. During the Shah’s reign, Iran marked the anniversary of 2,500 years of continuous monarchy since the founding of the Persian Empire by Cyrus the Great.
  • Beirut Spring: Christians, Sunni Muslims, and Druze unite against Syrian control. Moderate government gains power. Result? Hezbollah is now running Lebanon.
  • Palestinians have free elections: Voters protest against corrupt regime. Result? Hamas is now running the Gaza Strip.
  • Algeria holds free elections: Voters back moderate Islamist group. Result? Military coup; Islamists turn radical; tens of thousands of people killed.

The means to these same ends (democracy, military coup  or dictatorship) is immaterial.

What do Egyptians (future voters) really think? They are extremely radical even in comparison to Jordan or Lebanon.

They preferred “Islamists” over  “modernizers,” 59% to 27%. In addition, 20 percent said they liked al-Qaeda; 30 percent= Hezbollah; 49 percent= Hamas.

Egyptian Muslims said the following: 84 percent favor the death penalty for any Muslim who changes his religion.

In a democracy  these views determine how people vote.  These are reasons that Egypt will not turn into a moderate, stable, and democratic state:

1) There are few forces favoring this outcome; 2)  the rebellion has no organization; 3) Egypt lacks the resources to raise living standards and distribute wealth;4)  extremist ideologies are deeply held and widely spread.

A possible outcome: The élite will lose its nerve and fragments, in part demoralized by a lack of Western — especially U.S. — support. The Muslim Brotherhood throws its full weight behind the rebellion.  Soldiers refuse to fire at or join the opposition.

A radical regime will emerge, with the Muslim Brotherhood as either ruler or power behind the throne.  Then the fundamental transformation will be complete and the next domino will fall. The army will be the wildcard.

Israel will lose all its Middle East Allies and America will have armed them, in the interest of “equality.”

“Ask not” was Kennedy’s call to Revolution.

January 20, 2011 By Richard A. Volunteer

Fifty years ago today John F.  Kennedy spoke for 16 minutes and with 1355 words inspired thousands to enter politics, government or the Peace Corps.

He said that America continued to fight for “the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the Hand of God.”

The speech has become etched in American lore, particularly among the 60 million people who watched it on television. They saw a youthful and apparently vigorous president grasp power from the elderly Dwight Eisenhower, summoning a new generation “to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle.”  It called on all to “pay any price; bear any burden” to guarantee the survival of liberty.

“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

“Here on earth, God’s work must truly be our own,”  he concluded.

Did John F. Kennedy’s  noble wishes die with him?  Fifty years later we the People of the United States, in Order to form a perfect Union, we the people…..Yes we the people, have frustrated  Kennedy,  failed ourselves and forgotten our God.

Kennedy wished that “Here on earth, Gods work must truly be our own!” Kennedy had no idea that “Gods work” was dedicated to the sure destruction of this democracy.

God already declared that the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, Let us break His bands. He that sits in the heavens will laugh: the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He will speak to them in His displeasure. I will set my King in Jerusalem. I have decreed: Thou art my Son and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, even to the far reaches of North America,  for your possession.” (Psalm 2 vs 1 -8)

That King has asked us to die for His cause.  Ours is not the quick death of the bomber,  to the cry of Allahu Akbar. Ours is the slow daily torturous death of sacrificing our will, our desires and very life.  Let us answer His call to martyrdom.

That soldier Paul of Tarsus said,  I sometimes think God has put us on display, like prisoners of war at the end of a victor’s parade, condemned to die in the arena.  We have become a spectacle to the entire world — to people and angels alike. (I Cor 4 v 9)

So let us answer Kennedy’s call, in making “Gods work our own.” Embrace Gods vision of liberating this planet. Make a friend of self-denial. Be willing to die for His greater cause. You prove to everyone,  that there is no-one more fearless, than those with nothing to lose.

Presidents and Prophets

April 27, 2010 By Richard A. Volunteer

President Obama ascended the mountain to Rev. Billy Graham’s  log cabin Sunday afternoon en-route to a memorial service for miners. There was a time a man of God descended from the mountain with a word of the Lord.

So Obama came to a mountain to be prayed for. There will come a time when all the kings of the earth will come to another mountain,  not for prayer, or a photo op,  but to pay homage to the King.

The president had never met Graham in person, Burton told reporters, and is now the 12th White House occupant to have done so in the last 7 decades.  For all those meetings and God speaking to the leaders,  our country still free falls into Hell. And while 7 signifies completeness,  12 is the number of government.

“Rev. Graham has obviously been an important spiritual leader to past presidents,” White House spokesman Burton told reporters, “He’s a real treasure to our country, and the president appreciates the opportunity to visit him at his home.”  There was a time “men of God” were greeted with Ki 18:17  ”when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that trouble Israel?’

All presidents need prayer. But what they all wanted most was the picture. Barack Obama’s visit to Billy Graham’s — was several years in the making.  Both the preacher and the presidents had their reasons — sometimes spiritual, sometimes political, usually both — for getting together. Hopefully, they got what they came for. There was a time kings dreaded and feared the Men of God,  and no man of God ever got together for a Photo Op.

Franklin Graham got uninvited to a National Day Prayer event because he called a false religion Evil, but there was the time when Eisenhower mused about recruiting Graham as a speechwriter, to help in the fight against “Godless communism.”

Now Prophets and the Kings mutually serve each other. From a skinny dip in the white house pool, while Johnson was in office, to pictures of a praying president on evangelical campaign literature, golfing with Kennedy, worship services for Nixon, marriage counseling for a post Lewinsky-Clinton,  Billy Graham was a part of White House life.  Were Gods purpose, His message,  and His agenda really served?

We now have the leadership we deserve in the Church and in our Country  – because the Church of the Living God has forgotten that Presidents serve at the pleasure of the Holy One of Israel,  and we are all accountable to Him.

It is our duty to remind them.

Of Judgement and Nobel Peace Prizes.

October 9, 2009 By Richard A. Volunteer

Today is Hoshana Rabbah is known as the day of the final sealing of judgment, which began on Rosh Hashannah (Trumpets) 21 days ago. For Jewish Israel, it closes out the Festival of Harvest. It is said to seal the fate of the new year.

Worldwide Surprise Greets Obama Nobel Peace Prize Announcement.
Acknowledging that he was “surprised and humbled” by the news that he had won the Nobel Peace Prize, President Barack Obama today urged the international community to work together on addressing the challenges of the 21st centuryThere are essentially two kinds of Nobel Peace Prizes — achievement-based and “aspirational” President Obama is the first sitting U.S. president to win an aspirational peace prize for there have been no achievements. Obama resembles only one other Nobel Peace Prize winner – the Dalai Lama, flying around the world and smiling beatifically.
I wonder what kind of Peace this will bring for Israel? “And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings …” (Daniel 2:20-21) This fact was first relayed to a Babylonian Gentile Empire, so it was not just addressed to a Jewish people. The irony is not lost. God gives us the kings/leaders that will best serve His purpose. We may consider the history of Babylon and Israel for history is prophecy. As America weighs the interests of 1.54 billion Muslims (25% of the world) against the interests of 7 million Jews, Israel will be isolated.
The very day after – The Israeli military says Ankara (Turkey) has prevented an annual air force drill of US and NATO in Turkey from taking place because of its demand that there be no Israeli participation. The annual drill was scheduled to begin on Monday with air forces from the US, Turkey, Israel, and NATO and has been an annual event since 2001. And while Turkey will not fly with Israel, they will do military exercises with Syria.
There is a war coming and America will no longer be a reliable partner as her President considers the interests with those of a larger Muslim community. In the end, Israel does stand alone…

Radical Day in the U.N.

September 24, 2009 By Richard A. Volunteer

While the prophets of falsehood recognize the world is heading back to “monotheism” and accept their part in making that happen… Mr. Obama is selling out the people of God, and the property God calls “My land”

In his first address to the U.N. General Assembly, Obama sought to set a new tone in U.S. relations, moving away from the unilateralism of his predecessor. He coupled conciliatory words about a “new era of engagement” with a summons for other nations to shoulder more of the burden.

In declaring that it is time for Middle East peace “without preconditions,” President Obama used his speech to the U.N. General Assembly Wednesday to fire a warning at Israel that “America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements.”

Obama’s stark declaration, which drew applause, was coupled with a call for Palestinians to end their “incitement of Israel.”

But it was the use of the U.N. forum to carry the settlement message to Israel that drew the most enthusiastic response on the floor — and incredulous reaction outside its walls.

Obama just put Israel “on the chopping block,” said former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton.

Qaddafi attacks U.N. for 90 min.

Referencing Obama as “my son,” Qaddafi said: “We are happy that a young African Kenyan was voted for and made the president. Obama is a glimpse in the dark for the next four years, but I’m afraid we may go back to square one.

 Ahmadinejad

Ahmadinejad did not mention the uproar over Iran’s nuclear program, calling instead for global nuclear disarmament.

At the same time, the Iranian leader issued stinging attacks on the United States and its allies without calling them by name, prompting a walkout by the U.S. delegation.

Religious references. He called for a “return to monotheism and justice,” calling it “the greatest hope and opportunity in all ages and generations.” My bible agrees with him, except we serve a different monotheistic God.

And the media ignored Mr. Ahmadinejad’s lengthy references to the return of Imam Mehdi, the missing 12th imam of Shia Islam, in his UN speech. As a fundamentalist Shia, the Iranian leader wants to hasten Mehdi’s return and the Armageddon- like battle he believes will end the world and usher in eternal peace and justice.

Without such a belief, injustice and discrimination will not be corrected, he said.

The Iranian leader also peppered his speech with religious references, invoking the prophets of Judaism and Christianity, as well as Islam.

Ahmadinejad is absolutely right. The final showdown is not between Presidents and elected officials. It is between him who craves worship, and his prophet, and the prophets of the Holy one of Israel. That battle will come back to the beginning, long before democracy was a political system.

Peace in our time – 70th Anniversary of W.W.2

September 2, 2009 By Richard A. Volunteer

“Today marks the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the most terrible of wars. We are in Westerplatte, the symbol of heroic resistance against the stronger enemy,” Poland’s President Lech Kaczynski said while opening the international part of the ceremonies.

The shelling of Westerplatte by the German Schleswig-Holstein warship started at 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 1, 1939, and was long considered to have been the first episode in the Nazi aggression on Poland that started the World War in Europe.

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during the Westerplatte ceremonies that the “biggest tragedy in the history of the humankind began in Gdansk on Sept. 1, 1939”

Meanwhile, we are buying peace in our time…The lessons of history are unlearned…on this very day.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised American Muslims for enriching the nation’s culture at a dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“A few years ago,” Obama said, “he explained this view — and this is part of why he’s The Greatest — saying, ‘Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams — they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do — they all contain truths.'”

Ramadan, a monthlong period of prayer, reflection and sunrise-to-sunset fasts, began Aug. 22 in most of the Islamic world. It is believed that God began revealing the Quran to Muhammad during Ramadan, and the faithful are supposed to spend the month in religious reflection, prayer and remembrance of the poor.

But Gods calendar marches with a message unchanged…to those that will hear…

Interesting that this month of Elul is Gods call of Repentance to the assembly of His people, before Trumpets and the 7th month. This was the time of testing for Yeshua in the desert….while John the Baptist called a nation to prepare the way of the Lord. This is our month…for a watchman church who cries aloud and spares not …

There are wars coming – Wars of Nations and Wars of Religion and finally that final defeat – when the governments of this earth are forever taken from man…..

Dan 2v44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Good for G.M. is good for USA – 40 days in bankruptcy?

July 12, 2009 By Richard A. Volunteer

It has been said “What is good for General Motors is good for America” – Chairman and CEO, Charlie Wilson, 1955. Today this could be, what is true for General Motors is true for America.

One bankruptcy expert called GM’s 40-day case the fastest ever for a company of its size. Spurred on by the Obama administration’s support, the bankruptcy process was two day’s faster than crosstown rival Chrysler Group 42-day time frame.

So what do 40 days in bankruptcy mean?

40 has always been a number of trial and rebirth. Even pregnancy is 40 weeks to birth. While some babies are ready to come out at 40 weeks pregnant, others prefer to stay in until 42 weeks pregnant. So it was for so many desert experiences that shaped history – Moses — Noah – Israel – and other desperate situations.

So does the 40 days stand alone, and the lesson is GM’s alone or she but a foretaste of the way ahead for the country she represents? Does she like the Phoenix arise reborn or does she merely point the road for all the arrogant capitalism, she stood for.

The two bankrupt autos are but the two witnesses to the road ahead for this country. Is praying for “God’s Bailout” going to rescue “Motor City.”

Once the wealthiest city in America, known as the “arsenal of democracy,” Detroit was the fourth largest city in the U.S. in the 1960’s with a population of two million…….

The following are 25 facts about the fall of Detroit…

  • The following are 25 facts about the fall of Detroit that will leave you shaking your head…
  • At this point, the city of Detroit owes money to more than 100,000 creditors.
  • Detroit is facing $20 billion in debt and unfunded liabilities. That breaks down to more than $25,000 per resident.
  • Back in 1960, the city of Detroit actually had the highest per-capita income in the entire nation.
  • In 1950, there were about 296,000 manufacturing jobs in Detroit. Today, there are less than 27,000.
  • Between December 2000 and December 2010, 48 percent of the manufacturing jobs in the state of Michigan were lost.
  • There are lots of houses available for sale in Detroit right now for $500 or less.
  • At this point, there are approximately 78,000 abandoned homes in the city.
  • About one-third of Detroit’s 140 square miles is either vacant or derelict.
  • An astounding 47 percent of the residents of the city of Detroit are functionally illiterate.
  • Less than half of the residents of Detroit over the age of 16 are working at this point.
  • If you can believe it, 60 percent of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.
  • Detroit was once the fourth-largest city in the United States, but over the past 60 years the population of Detroit has fallen by 63 percent.
  • The city of Detroit is now very heavily dependent on the tax revenue it pulls in from the casinos in the city. Right now, Detroit is bringing in about 11 million dollars a month in tax revenue from the casinos.
  • There are 70 “Superfund” hazardous waste sites in Detroit.
  • 40 percent of the street lights do not work.
  • Only about a third of the ambulances are running.
  • Some ambulances in the city of Detroit have been used for so long that they have more than 250,000 miles on them.
  • Two-thirds of the parks in the city of Detroit have been permanently closed down since 2008.
  • The size of the police force in Detroit has been cut by about 40 percent over the past decade.
  • When you call the police in Detroit, it takes them an average of 58 minutes to respond.
  • Due to budget cutbacks, most police stations in Detroit are now closed to the public for 16 hours a day.
  • The violent crime rate in Detroit is five times higher than the national average.
  • The murder rate in Detroit is 11 times higher than it is in New York City.
  • Today, police solve less than 10 percent of the crimes that are committed in Detroit.
  • Crime has gotten so bad in Detroit that even the police are telling people to “enter Detroit at your own risk“.
  • It is easy to point fingers and mock Detroit, but the truth is that the rest of America is going down the exact same path that Detroit has gone down.
  • Detroit just got there first. All over this country, there are hundreds of state and local governments that are also on the verge of financial ruin…
