How shall I Approach God

Doctrine  by
Horatius Bonar

“How should I go to God?” This can be the most important question we can ask ourselves. Many believers think that they don’t need to go to God because He is already with us. However, we can see in Genesis how human falls into sin. We got separated from God, and the need to seek Him arose.
This collection of Dr. Bonar’s writings deals with the theme of Christian assurance. He tells us that there is a life after death and urges us to be sure of the home to which we are going. Only if we confess our sin and ask Him to cleanse us can we go to Him. It is the first step to restore our fellowship to God where we fear no evil and our sorrows are turned into joy. So let this work serves as a compass as we seek His path.

Prayer of Jabez by Charles H. Spurgeon

Prayer Books

The Prayer of Jabez reveals how to make praying the Jabez prayer a lifetime habit. Readers will broaden their understanding of the four components of the Jabez prayer (“bless me; enlarge my borders; keep Your hand upon me; keep me from evil”) by investigating key scriptural passages and learning how to apply them to their lives. And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

John Calvin on Prayer

Prayer Books by
John Calvin

Words fail to convey how fundamental prayer is. In so many ways, the exercise of prayer is precious, and it is by the great effect of prayer that His devout children obtain those treasures which are put up for them with the heavenly Father. In this revered religious literature, French theologian and pastor John Calvin presents the rules for right prayer. Prayer, first and foremost, is about oneself. Prayer shapes character and is an essential discipline of the Christian life. It’s the expression of our desires to our heavenly Father, confessions of our faults, and thankful recognition of his blessings. It’s also a responsibility; that God compels Christians to pray is a sufficient incentive. In Calvin in Prayer, Christians looking to strengthen their relationship with God are enlightened to an improved practice of prayer with kind yet firm guidance, making it an excellent exercise either by personal or communal means.

Answers to Prayer

Prayer Books  by
George Mueller

Prayer has always been a vital component of George Muller’s ministry in the 19th century. In Answers to Prayer, the author reveals the spiritual characteristics of praying that ends in rewarding the prayer in many ways. Muller lived a life that was devotional and dependent upon God and one of his chief rules in life was never to tell other’s needs and only ask God for help. This book is similar to a journal, a collection of excerpts that describe how God did answer Muller’s prayers, narrating such powerful ways in which God provided; encouraging and touching the readers, inspiring, encouraging and challenging them. Agreed with many that this book is a powerful account of God’s faithfulness towards his children and inspired by the author’s personal experiences, Answers to Prayer is a brilliant testimony of the power of prayer that exhibits how a believer can appropriate the promises of God.

Power Through Prayer

Practical Teaching on Prayer  by
E.M. Bounds

Power through Prayer is a masterpiece by E.M Bounds. It is an outstanding, provocative and inspiring classic that quotes famous spiritual giants to stress upon the vitality of prayer. Bounds study holiness as a universal factor concluding that prayer is a mighty factor rather than something you can tick off at the end of your day. The book narrates the transforming, ever-changing aspect of the Christian life, further explaining that we are always learning and that this is simply a guidebook providing information to understand prayer and appreciate divinity. The book also acts as a metaphorical question mark: it asks its readers if their existing lifestyle is abundant and whether they are ready to invest in prayer and discover the power lying underneath. The book encourages a personal understating of the divine word and maintaining a direct relation with God, becoming a dynamic Christian in the process of doing so.
