Imitation of Christ

Christian Life.  by
Thomas Kempis

A devotional handbook of spiritual life, The Imitation is the most widely read devotional book next to the Bible in Christian communities globally. A religious classic meticulously composed by Thomas, the book provides detailed instructions, directives and counsels for spiritual life and understanding of the Blessed Sacrament. Translated in many languages, the approach is towards the inner world rather than an active imitation. It is about withdrawing from the worldly fairs and emphasizing on Eucharist as key to devotional living. The pure truth within attracts the readers, encouraging them to contemplate the nature of positive duties and illusions of vanities, concluding on renouncing the distractions of life. The book stresses the significance of solitude and silence; it underlines the importance of a focused conscious that is not chasing the ephemeral joys and a heart that is not distracted by allusions. The life of such a devotee becomes a continuous pilgrimage.
